Chickens for Meat

Earlier this week, we decided to cut down on our flock and use some for meat. Here is a picture of the 5 Rhode Island Red Chickens, ready to go in the freezer!

Before we start the process, we always pray and thank the Lord for what He has given us for food. It is a different experience when you know the food on your plate has been raised by you and prepared by you. We are grateful for the opportunity to raise and grow our own food and give all the glory to God.

*Just for fun, this is a picture taken in December when we first started to butcher chicken ourselves. We call it the "The Ice Cold Chicken Jacuzzi".  :)

Ever Wonder How an Egg is Made?

I actually got to see this today as we cut back our flock to use as meat. Pretty interesting and certainly is a miracle, from our Lord, how these creatures are made and what they are able to do!

The harvesting has begun!!

Here is a picture of some of what we have harvested from our garden and chickens! :)

Learn about GMO's!!

I mentioned in our profile that we try to stay away from GMO's if possible. Why you ask? Well here is a link that I think will explain why. Please take the time to read it and explore the website.
